Clover's ecosystem is built around proprietary hardware: Clover Station, Clover Mini, Clover Flex, and Clover Go. Each device costs hundreds of pounds and is tied to Clover's payment processing. If you switch providers, your hardware becomes useless. CafeOS works on any device you already own.

Clover uses First Data / Fiserv as its payment processor, meaning your payments go through their system. CafeOS uses Stripe Connect so your customers' payments land directly in your own Stripe account. You control your funds, your payout schedule, and your payment history.
